About Kermodee
Why We Created Kermodee
Every year, nearly 400,000 people from diverse backgrounds choose Canada as their new home, strengthening a nation built on unity, resilience, and shared values.
Driven by Canada’s diverse spirit, we created Kermodee: a symbolic apparel brand that celebrates what it means to belong in Canada, no matter where your story begins.
The Meaning Behind Kermodee
Our name comes from the Kermode bear - a rare and majestic subspecies of black bear found only in British Columbia.
Known as the “Spirit Bear,” it holds deep significance in Indigenous culture, representing purity, harmony with nature, strength, and the interconnectedness of all life. Just one in ten bears carries the gene that gives them their remarkable white or cream-colored fur -a powerful symbol of beauty in rarity.
Inspired By The Spirit Bear
Kermodee brings people together through style, shared values, and meaningful stories. Our name is a tribute to the country’s extraordinary natural beauty and heritage, reflecting our commitment to honoring and celebrating it with the world.

CONVERSATIONS
What is Conversations!
This is a space for real dialogue with people who care - about how things are made, what they stand for, and who they serve.
We talk about values, ethics, sourcing, identity, and pricing — and about anything you want to ask or explore.
Some questions help us clarify; others challenge us to improve - and all of them help us grow.
If you’d like to be part of the Conversation, reach out publicly on Instagram or Facebook @kermodeecanada, or email your question to info@kermodee.ca
Thank you for the opportunity to listen, learn, and build something meaningful together!
Where are Kermodee T-shirts made?
Thanks for your thoughtful question!
While our cotton and cotton-blend tshirts are designed in Calgary, they are ethically manufactured in certified facilities in China, India, and Turkey. We work only with Sedex, FSC, and SGS-certified partners who uphold the highest standards in labor rights, safety, and sustainability.
We believe in international trade not just for its ethical impact, but for the joy of learning, cultural exchange, and growing together across cultures.
At Kermodee, our mission is proudly Canadian, and every piece is created with integrity, meaning, and unity in mind.
When will Kermodee garments be made in Canada?
We love your patriotic spirit!
We’d like to share a little insight: Canada does not grow cotton, as our climate is simply too cold and the growing season too short for cotton cultivation. As a result, all cotton used in Canada — whether raw fibre, yarn, or finished fabric - is imported from Turkey, India, and China, globally recognized for their high-quality cotton.
At Kermodee, our vision is to expand what “Made in Canada” can mean—not just through local assembly, but through ethical sourcing, thoughtful design, responsible manufacturing, and a commitment to Canadian values.
Global sourcing, when done responsibly, supports fair trade and sustainable development across borders.
We truly appreciate your hope - and we’re working every day to bring more of that vision home.
Poor business model playing on nationalism.
The business model isn’t perfect because it is our first and we are still learning.
The purpose goes beyond selling clothing.
About the statement on "playing nationalism": Nationalism often fuels division, and that’s not what Kermodee stands for.
We are patriotic, not nationalistic.
We believe in pride without supremacy - celebrating Canada without putting others down.
Kermodee was created to celebrate Canada with sincerity at its core — supported by thoughtful strategy, not driven by it.
Kermodee reflects belonging, unity, meaning, and human connection, and it aims to inspire positive self-determination, civic spirit, and engagement.
If you’d like to get a better sense of what Kermodee stands for, we’d love to invite you to follow along on Instagram or Facebook @kermodeecanada.
We appreciate all constructive and thoughtful feedback, especially when it creates an opportunity for conversation.
You’ve got to be kidding me! I’d love a Canada/Calgary T, but not for that amount…way too expensive!!
Thank you for your honest comment.
We understand that not every price point fits everyone’s budget.
We price our pieces based on the premium fabric, carefully selected accompanying materials, and the intentional work that goes into every detail from design to production.
We appreciate your interest in a Canada/Calgary pieces and would love to have you follow along — we do offer special promos from time to time.
We invite you to take a look at the story behind it — the evolution of Calgary,
Alberta since 1875, where it all began.

Thanks again for stopping by and sharing your thoughts.
Was contemplating purchasing, but then noticed that only a few select cities are featured. Not very Canadian!
We completely understand how seeing only a few featured cities might feel limiting.
Please know that Kermodee is a Canadian brand, and starting with a small launch selection doesn’t make it any less so.
Manufacturing and stocking a wide range of city-specific designs requires a significant investment, especially at the level of quality and craftsmanship we’ve committed to. As a small, independent startup, we’re growing carefully and sustainably - one meaningful design at a time.
If being “100% Canadian” meant launching with every city of Canada, no emerging brand could meet that standard, but we’re here for the long journey, expanding our heritage story piece by piece, with Canada at the heart of it.
What is the composition of Kermodee T-shirts?
This first collection features 2 types of fabric.
The Up Here Together T-Shirt you are interested in is crafted from 82% cotton and 18% polyester, with a 290 GSM weight. Its color is an elegant off-white / cream. The fabric is soft yet structured, designed to maintain its shape wash after wash.
You’ll also find another T-shirt fabric in our collection - 100% cotton in white, with a slightly lighter GSM of 270.
If you have any other questions or would like help choosing the right style, I’d be happy to help!
Do you have any T-shirts in French - like "Fière Franco-Ontarienne" Canada?
Bonsoir!
At the moment, we do not have print designs in French - but we love the idea of honoring les Fières Franco-Ontariennes du Canada!
We’re always looking to expand our Heritage Collection with meaningful pieces, and your suggestion is now officially on our list.
In the meantime, feel free to explore our current designs at www.kermodee.ca; we are also available on Amazon.ca for added convenience.
Please, don’t hesitate to share more ideas with us.
Thank you again for your interest!
Merci d’avoir choisi Kermodee — avec fierté, depuis Calgary!
I really wish more places had women’s shirts rather than unisex.
We’re happy to share that Kermodee offers a variety of t-shirts with a feminine silhouette for a more shaped and tailored fit.
You can explore these styles at www.kermodee.ca
We also include unisex t-shirts in our collection, as they provide a different kind of fit - more relaxed and versatile.
For women, they create a great streetwear-inspired look, especially when styled slightly oversized for that effortless, urban feel.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts - it helps us keep improving!
I would not buy them because it’s sold by Amazon.
Thank you for sharing your perspective - we respect your opinion.
We list on Amazon.ca to offer Canadians a secure, trusted delivery option and to make our products accessible to those who prefer shopping through the Amazon platform.
